Grape Juice Sago
Ingredients
½ cup sago
1½ cups Casa Madeira Whole Grain Juice
2½ cups filtered water
½ cup sugar
1 cinnamon stick
2 cloves
Preparing
Place the sago in a bowl, cover with 1 cup of filtered water and leave to rest for an hour. With 15 minutes to go before the sago is ready, place 1½ cups of the water, the grape juice, cinnamon, cloves and sugar in a medium saucepan. Mix well until the sugar dissolves. Bring the pan to the boil.
When it boils, add the sago (with the liquid left in the bowl) and lower the heat. Leave to cook for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally so the sago doesn't stick to the bottom of the pan, until the balls are soft and almost transparent.
Transfer the sago to a bowl and leave to cool at room temperature for 30 minutes - during this time the balls finish cooking in their own heat and the dessert reaches the ideal consistency. Cover and refrigerate to cool for at least 1 hour before serving.
